About me

I’m Gerald O’Connor. I run OptimiseDiet.org to share evidence‑based insight on diet, health, and sustainability. My goal: show how everyday food choices can improve personal wellbeing and help the planet.

My background is in nutrition. Over years of studying and working with people, I saw how small changes – what we eat, how we cook, what we include and omit – often make more difference than dramatic diets or fads.

I follow a strict editorial policy: all content on OptimiseDiet.org is independently researched, evidence-based, and free from commercial influence or sponsored bias.

When I’m not writing, you’ll find me in the kitchen cooking simple meals (fresh, seasonal ingredients, minimal fuss) or outdoors – hiking, gardening, exploring. Those moments remind me why diet matters: health isn’t isolated from environment, and what we eat ties us to place, community and ecology.
